Then they will make a recommendation about how many lessons are required.

To begin driving lessons, you must be 17 or older, except if you have applied for or received the enhanced rate of the mobility component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP), in which case you can start at 16. You will also need a valid provisional driving licence.

You can apply for a provisional licence up to three months before you turn 16. But you have to wait until you are 17 before you can begin driving lessons.

There is no set minimum number of lessons or hours required before taking a driving test. The number of lessons you need will depend on your learning pace. On average, the learners require around 40-50 hours of lessons.

You can take your theory test once you have a provisional driving licence, and you are at least 17 years old. Although you can obtain your provisional licence at 16, you can only schedule your theory test after you turn 17.

The number of lessons you take each week will depend on your budget and your desired pace to pass your test. Consistency is essential, so it is recommended to take at least 2 to 4 hours of private lessons per week. Our two-hour lessons are also more effective for faster and better progress. We offer weekly lessons or a fast pass course.

Once you have gained some confidence and knowledge of the basics, it is beneficial to practice driving with friends or family. However, they must be at least 21 years old, qualified to drive the same vehicle type you are practising in (e.g., manual car licence for supervising in a manual car), and hold a full driving licence for at least 3 years (from the UK, the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, or Liechtenstein). Driving without proper supervision may result in a fine of up to £1,000 and six penalty points on your provisional licence.
